Retractable Tonneau Covers

Think of a retractable tonneau cover as a window shade for your truck bed. When you want sunshine you tug on the shade and a spring rolls it up to expose the window. When you want full access to your truck bed, the aluminum tonneau cover rolls up into a canister at the front of the bed. And just as the shade delivers privacy when drawn over the window, the retractable tonneau cover provides complete, water resistant, and locking bed security when closed. A retractable tonneau combines the convenience and ease of use of a roll up cover with the maximum security of a hard shell tonneau.

Construction will vary according to manufacturer and tonneau model, but most are formed from aluminum sections joined in weather tight connections that are flexible to allow the cover to roll up in response to the canister torsion spring. The aluminum is powder coated or vinyl covered for durability and an attractive appearance, and the cover glides in tracks mounted below the bed rails.

The canister in a retractable tonneau cover takes up very little space, so you get full use of your truck bed. But if you only need partial bed access, most covers have multiple detents along the bed rails where the cover will lock in position. However, if you need maximum cargo capacity, some of our retractable tonneaus can be completely removed in just minutes. These covers are water resistant, but to prevent water from collecting and causing damage, many also come with water drainage systems to channel water out of the bed. Each cover is a vehicle specific design, so you can be assured of perfect fit and trouble-free installation. Most retractable covers are attached with clamps and little or no drilling is required; however drilling is necessary for the drainage hoses.

The way that many retractable tonneau covers mount means that the bed rail stake holes are left free for accessories like bed rails and racks.
