Naturally, the fuel tank has to be well-sealed to keep them inside, but the solution is not that simple, as gas gets warmer in the summertime or in other conditions, and its vapors lead to excessive pressure in this reservoir. Its design may vary in different vehicles, but the working principle and major components are mainly the same. A fuel tank has a vent tube connected to a vapor canister that contains charcoal and can absorb gasoline vapors. When the engine is running at moderate load, the ECU can open the purge valve thus allowing the flow of air to blow up the canister and take these vapors to the intake manifold via a separate channel.
