Dahmer Powertrain, Inc. was established in 1975 by Jerry Dahmer, who had owned an automobile dealership, Dahmer Chevrolet, from 1974 to 2002. Shortly after opening, the dealership got a great opportunity to buy a generous amount of engines from a nearby farm machinery manufacturer. The parts were ultimately purchased and sold soon afterwords. This was the beginning of the business which has operated for 28 years. In 2002, the dealership was sold to one of its top managers, while the engine division was separated and began operating under the Dahmer Powertrain name.

Today, Dahmer Powertrain, Inc. offers an extensive range of engines, automatic and manual transmission assemblies, as well as driveline and axle components. Each Dahmer Powertrain engine is rigorously tested with three kinds of tests: a visual inspection, testing on the Simtest machine, and a Fuel Injection Cycle Test.
