Introduced in 1987, the Allante was a first step made by Cadillac into the ultra-luxury roadster territory. It lived a short but really successful life until 1993, during which it was able to compete with such monsters like the Mercedes-Benz 560 SL and the Jaguar XJS. It is interesting that although its chassis was assembled in Detroit, Michigan, it was then flown to Italy where the Allante’s body had to be attached onto it. Even though it had been in production for only six years, it still remains one of the most recognizable roadsters ever built by Cadillac.
