Andersen trailer hitches and towing accessories are tested to comply with all V5 and SAE J684 standards for safe and confident trailering. Andersen uses high-strength aluminum rather than steel to manufacture its trailer hitches, and here is why. The material used has nothing to do with a bendable, crushable metal used in household items. What goes into making ultimate towing products is aircraft-grade aluminum, which is one of the toughest metals out there. While being lightweight, it is capable of handling 40,000 pounds, and Andersen hitches were tested to withstand 55,000 lbs with the official TWR of 24,000 lbs. An aluminum hitch is resistant to corrosion, which means you can use it rain or shine, all year round, without ever worrying about its structural integrity.
