Introduced for 2018, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a relatively new entry in the U.S. compact SUV segment. It may not be topping the sales charts, but the Eclipse Cross is worth due consideration as a more affordable alternative to rivals such as the Hyundai Kona or Toyota RAV4. The sharp styling of this vehicle is one of its strong points. The Eclipse Cross bears the name of Mitsubishi's well-rounded sports car, and it definitely looks the part. Athletic coupe-like proportions, sculpted sheet metal, and attractive details create the look that does make a statement. Starting this year, the SP (Special Edition) version joined the lineup, sitting in the middle of the range between the LE and SE. It looks sportier thanks to carbon-effect exterior accessories and other unique accents. Whatever the model, it can have an even more impressive appearance with 2020 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross accessories and parts that we carry on our digital shelves.
Safety improvements that the Eclipse-badged crossover got for 2020 include new driver aids such as forward-collision and lane-departure warning systems added to models above the base ES, along with auto high-beams. On the higher end of the spectrum, there are SE and SEL trim levels that received automatic emergency braking. Mitsubishi is proud to announce that this year's Eclipse Cross got an overall safety rating of five stars from NHTSA. All versions except the base one are decently loaded with features, and a lengthy powertrain warranty increases the model's appeal to buyers.
Just like last year, there's the sole engine across the board. It is a 1.5-liter turbo four with 152 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, which is decent around town but unimpressive at highway speeds. The engine is mated to a CVT that provides smooth and seamless shifts. By default, power is sent to the front wheels, but customers who want good traction in wet and slippery road conditions can opt for AWD that Mitsu calls S-AWC (Super All-Wheel Control). The suspension of the 2020 Eclipse Cross is soft and designed for comfort, so don't expect the crossover to offer the connection with the road that its storied nameplate might suggest.
The Mitsubishi's compact SUV can comfortably seat five adults while leaving plenty of space for cargo. The trunk is big enough to accommodate a stroller without the need to fold the rear seats. The interior design and material quality of the 2020 Eclipse Cross do not disappoint, creating a compelling and comfortable environment. It leaves some room for improvement for many, though. Build the interior of your hauler around your needs and taste with the right 2020 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross parts and accessories that we offer at bargain prices.
