Constructed on the same dedicated electrified platform, it employs a 104-hp 1.6 L I4 mated to a 45-kW electric motor and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic. The 2018 Hyundai Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid generates the total power output of 139 hp and provides over 650 miles of total range and 27 miles of all-electric range. Fuel efficiency delivered by the new model is impressive as well – it returns 51 mpg combined (51 mpg city and 50 mpg hwy). The Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid is available in two versions – base and Limited. The base variant offers LED DRLs and taillights, 16” wheels, 7 airbags, rearview camera, active grille shutters, power door locks and windows, 7” touchscreen, 4.2” LCD instrument cluster, and lots of other features. The Limited grade adds LED headlights, leather seating surfaces, 7” LCD instrument cluster, blind spot detection, and chrome door handles.

Other models of the Ioniq lineup remained essentially unchanged. The Hybrid version uses the same gasoline-fed unit as the Plug-in Hybrid, teamed with a 32-kW electric motor and 6-speed automatic. It is also capable of producing 139 hp like the newly introduced model. Yet, the 2018 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid delivers higher fuel efficiency – up to 58 mpg combined. The total range is higher too, topping out at 690 miles. The Ioniq Electric employs an electric motor that delivers 88 kW or 120 hp and li-ion battery good for 28 kWh. Power and torque are sent via a single-speed reduction gear transmission. This model provides outstanding 125 MPGe and a 124-mile range.

The Ioniq Hybrid is offered in three trims, being Blue, SEL and Limited. The Blue features automatic bi-xenon headlights, rearview camera, 15” alloy wheels, keyless entry, automatic climate control, Bluetooth, 7” touchscreen, USB, HD and satellite radio. The SEL grade adds LED taillights and DRLs, heated front seats, leather steering wheel, chrome accents both inside and out, heated side mirrors, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring. The Limited also offers xenon headlights, sunroof, leather seating, larger alloy wheels, LED interior lighting, and corporate telematics features. The equipment offered by the Electric version is mostly similar to that of the Plug-in Hybrid.
